Barb's giveaway

Barb from Bejeweled Quilts by Barb is having a giveaway. Check it out!!!!

Road Trip

What a fun day - Bonnie and I helped stimulate the economy with a visit to Traditions of the White Swan in Hagerstown, MD. They had fat quarters for $1.25 - buy 12 and get 1 for free - who could resist??? I ended up with two 13-fat quarter stacks - what's a girl to do??? I got some more fabrics for my ongoing Grandmother's Flower Garden takealong project and also for my Celtic Knotwork that I'm working on. We had lunch at Panera's (yum) and then stopped at Marion's Fabrics just over the state line in PA on the way home. Of course, I managed to find a few more fabrics there to add to my stash :o)

A Visit from Morgan

We had the pleasure of having our granddaughter, Morgan, stay with us overnight on her way to a new job in New Orleans, LA. She'll be working at a theater near Bourbon Street and is looking forward to her new adventure. What a wonderful young lady she is (even though I'm her Grandma, I can say that!!). It was great seeing her again and maybe Grandpa & I will visit her for Mardi Gras!!!

Morning Visitor

Look who was at our house this morning. We have four hummingbirds who come to our feeder regularly every day - three females and one male. This female came up to me before she went to the feeder and squeeked at me as if to say "what are you doing here???" They are so much fun to watch and are very territorial - they fight and try to keep the feeder to themselves. They will probably be leaving soon to head south - they usually stay until mid September so we'll enjoy them while they're here. Do any of you have hummingbirds?

Sundae Quilters - Part deux

Here are some more photos from our Sundae Quilters gathering.  Nancy showed her Turning Twenty Again Halloween quilt and Bonnie was here with us, too.

Sundae Quilters

Today some of the Sundae Quilters came over and we had a great day.  Bonnie, Fran (with Dutchess), Nancy, Pat, Marie, and Jan were here for all or part of the day.  Jan showed her 30's handquilted bowtie, Jeane finished up some placemats that she was working on, and Marie got her son's quilt back from the longarmer (is that a word???).

The Fruits of my Labor

Hi All - Well, this is what I did yesterday morning. With one day's picking, I was able to put up 5 quarts and 9 pints of tomatoes. They'll be good in the winter in chili and spaghetti sauce - yum, yum!!! I didn't get to the zucchini, though - that will keep for another day.

Canning Day

Hi All -

As you can see, my garden runneth over!!! I'm off to WalMart to get a canner for putting up my tomatoes. I used to have all the equipment, but I gave it all to my daughter when I lived in Nebraska. There was so much shade in our yard that a vege garden was out of the question. But now that we live in Pennsylvania and have lots of sun, I have a garden and the tomatoes are abundant. Of course, it goes without saying, that the zucchini is too!!! So, I'll be canning and freezing (shredded zucchini) today. I've got lots of green & yellow beans, too, but I'm not fond of them canned or frozen. Maybe someone out there has a good recipe for them???

Chunks 7,8, 9

Well, I did get to sew after a great lunch at Montezuma's - our favorite Mexican restaurant. I got my Celtic Knotwork chunks 7, 8 and 9 done - hooray - I'm a third there!!!

Happy Friday

Happy Friday all. Today I'm going to try to get "chunk 9" of my Celtic Knotwork done. First, however, the house needs some attention and hubby wants to go out to lunch (oh, darn - LOL!!). The chunks go together pretty fast, so I should be able to get #9 done and maybe even start on #10. The Sundae Quilters are coming over on Sunday, so I should be able to get more done - hooray. I'll catch up one of these days.

This is a photo of a quilt I did for a friend in Nebraska - It's like a stack-n-whack except it has 4 "pies" instead of 6 or 8. Lots of fun and, most importantly, my friend likes it!!
Have a great day - bye for now -

New Photo

Here's a new photo of my daughter, son-in-law and grandsons who were visiting us this weekend - Rich, Laurie, Aaron, and Colin holding Blaze. Aaron will be off to college in a couple of weeks and Laurie will be back to teaching, too. Blaze was born a couple of miles from here and they adopted her a couple of years ago - she's a beauty.

Celtic Knotwork Mystery Quilt

I'm doing a mystery quilt generously offered by Lynne from "With Each New Day Comes Fresh Hope" called "Celtic Knotwork". It consists of 25 "chunks" and I'm really far behind but here is what I've accomplished so far. The colors I'm using are white background, black, burgundy and yellow. Mine is scrappy so that I can use up some of my stash!!! This should be really pretty when finished - I can hardly wait. These are chunks 1-6. Seven is done and 8 is in the works. My squares are 2" (1-1/2" finished). I'll post when I have 7-9 done.

Happy Monday

Happy Monday All - We had a nice visit with daughter, son-in-law and two grandsons (and Blaze the Sheltie) yesterday. They all had to leave this morning, but not before raiding the garden for some excess produce - tomatoes, peppers, zucchini and green & yellow beans. It was a short visit and we were glad to see them. Aaron is off to college in a couple of weeks and both boys are happy about that...LOL. I'm off to work this afternoon. Granddaughter, Morgan, will be stopping by next week on her way to New Orleans for a new job in a theater down there. We haven't seen her for quite a while, so that will be a treat for us. She graduated from UMass and worked for the summer up in the Berkshires at a theater but that was only for the summer. She's happy to have found a job in her field - maybe grandpa & I will make a visit to her in her new place.

Saturday, August 15, 2009

It's Saturday morning and I've got tons to do today. My daughter, son-in-law and two grandsons are coming for a quick visit tomorrow. They'll go home early Monday a.m. but I need to get the house ready today - ugh. I'd much rather be blogging or quilting - probably in that order. This blog stuff is really fun!!! I was up until 12:45 last night. My hubby was wondering what happened to me, but time just got away from me - funny how that happens!!! Thanks to all of those who have welcomed me to blogland - it's great hearing from people from all over the world. Hope you all have a great day - I'm off for an appointment with my Dyson :o(

Welcome - it's hot in central PA and too hot to quilt today, even though my sewing room is in the basement. Friend, Nancy, stopped over today to say "Hi" and we treated ourselves with "Big Macs" and the trimmings - salad for me tonight. As usual, I have TONS of projects in the making - several quilts to be quilted and many UFO's to work on. Oh, well, tomorrow is another day.
